Description
A šakotis is a cake and a centrepiece at once: thin layers of batter poured onto a rotating spit above a flame, each one setting into the spiky golden branches that give it its name. This is the classic version from Dzūkija – butter and eggs, and nothing pretending to be either – with a dry, delicate crumb that keeps for weeks. It comes in a kraft gift box with a carry handle, ready for the table or for the back seat of the car.
